Elephant ears are essentially fried dough sprinkled with cinnamon sugar. Here are the ingredients:
1 egg
1 1/2 cups warm (80 degrees F) water
1 tsp lemon juice
1/3 cup oil
1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 tsp salt
4 1/2 cups all purpose flour
2 tsp active dry yeast
Directions:
1. I placed all the ingredients into a stand mixer with the dough hook attachment. Mixed until dough formed into a ball.
2. I placed the dough in a greased bowl and covered until doubled in size.
3. I rolled out small balls of dough into a flat disc.
4. I fried the dough in 350 degree oil, until golden brown on both sides.
5. Remove from oil and place on paper towels and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.
